Global e-Government Forum 2013: Smart Government, Smart Society

United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Security and Public Administration of the Republic of Korea (MOSPA) hosted the 2nd Global e-Government Forum (GeGF 2013) in Korea, from 21st to 23rd of October 2013. The theme of this year’s forum is “Smart Government, Smart Society: Openness, Sharing, Communication and Collaboration,” and its objectives are as followings:
  • To share experiences and best practices on building e-Government and e-Governance at the national and global levels
  • To discuss and facilitate future directions for public policy on e-Government and e-Governance for people
  • To enhance co-operation and develop inter-working mechanisms among e-Government stakeholders including policy makers, international and regional organizations, academia, and private sector
Over 1,200 participants, high-level policy-makers, as well as government officials from around the world attended the Forum. Participants include ministers or vice-ministers, managerial-level government officials, representatives from international and regional organizations, the academia, and the private sector. Ministers and vice-ministers who are responsible for e-Government are particularly pertinent and a High-Level Roundtable took place to provide stimulating discussion as well as identify areas of cooperation for digital inclusion and e-government development.
