Representatives from the ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific visited UNPOG on 30 May 2017 to discuss possible areas of cooperation.

The first item discussed was the 3rd Asia-Pacific Regional Forum on Smart Cities and eGovernment to be hosted by Government of Thailand from 21 to 22 September 2017 in Bangkok. ITU requested UNPOG’s support in mobilizing resource persons and participants as well as recommendations on innovative e-government practices in Asia and the Pacific. In addition, UNPOG will provide resource persons of its own. UNPOG reaffirmed its intention to continue its cooperation with ITU in the future and indicated that both sides could discuss the theme for the 2018 Forum.

The second item discussed was technical support to the Electronic Government Agency (EGA) of Thailand. UNPOG suggested EGA to review the outcomes from the recently concluded Expert Group Meeting on the Preparatory Process for the United Nations E-Government Survey 2018 and that EGA could contact the E-Government Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Korea for possible bilateral cooperation and study visits.

The third item for discussion was UNPOG's possible support to Mongolia, a LLDC, in developing e-government policies.
