Empowering Legislators through Strategic Foresight for Enhanced SDG Oversight (9 August 2023, Virtual)

On 9 August 2023, DPIDG/UNPOG and the Globe International - the Global Legislators Organization (GLOBE) joined forces and empowered legislators through a shared objective of strengthening effective governance using strategic foresight for enhanced SDG oversight. The discussions focused on an initiative to conduct a collaborative survey in three official UN languages (English, French, and Spanish) intended to support the research project undertaken by DPIDG and UNPOG which will lead to developing a Policy Brief on Strategic Foresight for the SDGs.
The primary goal of this collaboration is to enhance members of parliament's understanding and expertise in the field of Strategic Foresight, thereby fostering more insightful and effective oversight. Considering the engaging thematic realms for members of parliament, DPIDG/UNPOG is currently contemplating the potential of organising a launch event in conjunction with the upcoming COP28 in Dubai. This event is set to unfold within the Pavilion of Parliamentarians - a prominent facet of the official COP28 programme. Through this collaborative effort, legislators will have the opportunity to convene, deliberate, and contribute to the advancement of informed policymaking.
