Second Session of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway (AP-IS) and the Steering Committee Meeting
Mr. CHUNG Chae Gun, Head of UNPOG and Mr. Keping Yao, governance and public administration expert of UNPOG attended the Second Session of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway (AP-IS) Steering Committee, which was organized by the ICT and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). The Committee mainly focused on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and endorsing the practical applications of communication and frontier technologies in improving connectivity. It also aimed to discuss and finalize updates to the AP-IS Master Plan and reviewing initiatives and implementation process. 28 countries in the Asia Pacific region, seven specialized agencies and related organizations including UN DESA and UNPOG, a number of intergovernmental organizations and private sector contributed to a successful session and Steering Committee Meeting. During the Meeting, UNPOG in collaboration with DPIDG/UN DESA and UN ESCAP launched the UN E-Government Survey 2018 on August 30 and Mr. Chung delivered the opening remarks.
