At the invitation of the Mayor’s Office of Popayán and the Advisory Office for Disaster Risk Management, DPIDG/UNPOG virtually participated as a panelist during the Disaster Risk Reduction Week, held to commemorate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction under the theme “Fund Resilience, Not Disasters.” Popayán is located in the southwest of Colombia, along the Romeral geological fault and near the volcanic chain of the Coconucos craters, which currently keeps the area on yellow alert. DPIDG/UNPOG presented the Toolkit on Risk-informed Governance and Innovative Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience, which is part of the UN DESA Curriculum on Governance, and shared practical examples with participants.
