DPIDG/UNPOG Contribution to the 2025 International Mayors Forum (14-16 October 2025, Toyota City, Japan)

As part of interdivisional collaboration and at the request of UNOSD/DSDG, DPIDG/UNPOG contributed to the 2025 International Mayors Forum, organized by DSDG/DESA and UN-Habitat, held from 14 to 16 October 2025 in Toyota City, Japan. The Forum served as an annual platform for local and regional governments to exchange experiences and knowledge on advancing the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, highlighting local solutions that accelerated progress across the six transformative transitions. It also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to explore strategies to advance the implementation of major global commitments, including the Pact for the Future, the 2025 Financing for Development Conference, and the Paris Agreement. DPIDG/UNPOG moderated the session on country experiences in applying multilevel governance to achieve the SDGs and delivered an introductory presentation on multilevel governance for SDG implementation. The programme also provided an opportunity to promote the Curriculum on Governance for the SDGs developed by UN DESA.
